Usher to Receive Lifetime Achievement Honor At BET Awards 2024

BET has just dropped a bombshell announcement: GRAMMY award-winning global entertainment icon, Usher, will be honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement BET Award at the BET Awards 2024.

Set your reminders because this monumental event will be broadcast live on Sunday, June 30, from the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles at 8 pm ET/PT.

This coveted award celebrates industry pioneers who have powerfully influenced culture and the entertainment world.

Usher joins an elite club of past recipients that includes legends like Whitney Houston, Prince, Queen Latifah, Anita Baker, Mary J. Blige, Samuel L. Jackson, Lionel Richie, New Edition, and Busta Rhymes.

Although the surprise guests who will take the stage to celebrate Usher’s ever-growing musical legacy remain under wraps, we can expect a star-studded roster of performers who will undoubtedly bring the house down.

With a career spanning three decades and over 80 million records sold worldwide, Usher’s impact on the music industry is nothing short of phenomenal.

His groundbreaking albums, such as My Way and Confessions, have shattered records and earned him numerous accolades, including eight GRAMMY Awards.

In 2024, Usher’s trailblazing journey continued with his headlining performance at the Apple Music halftime show for Super Bowl LVIII and the release of his highly anticipated ninth album, Coming Home, marking his debut as an independent artist.

But Usher’s influence isn’t confined to the realm of music.

As the founding chairman of the New Look Foundation, he has empowered over 55,000 youth worldwide through education and mentorship.

His dedication to philanthropy and social activism has garnered widespread recognition, including the NAACP’s 2010 Ford Freedom Award Scholar and the prestigious Morehouse College Candle Award in 2014.

The BET Awards have been the #1 cable award show among all adults 18-49 for the last three consecutive years and the #1 cable award show among Black adults 18-49 for an incredible 22 consecutive years.

This year, Drake leads the nominations with an outstanding seven nods.

Voting for the BET Awards 2024 Viewer’s Choice Award begins on June 6, 2024, and ends on June 30, 2024, at 6:30 PM PT/9:30 PM ET.
