The actor reportedly told the court he could not afford the estimated $250,000 he allegedly owes.
Love claimed the highest gross income he earned during the past five years was $13,000 and said he earned no income last year.
Love also stated that a medical incident prevented him from attending a court hearing in April.
Despite those claims, a judge ordered Love to surrender for a 90-day jail sentence in May after finding him in contempt.
That order ultimately led to his arrest this week.
