‘The Testaments’ Season Finale Recap: Agnes Activated Her June Osborne DNA

Young women navigating Gilead in "The Testaments" premiering April 8, 2026 on Hulu

Frens… Hulu’s “The Testaments” just delivered one of the most emotional season finales I’ve watched in a very long time, and I am STILL sitting here trying to gather myself.

There are shows I regret not doing weekly recaps for, and “The Testaments” is sitting right at the top of that list.

Every single episode snatched me bald in some way, shape, or form to the point where I genuinely struggled to process everything I was feeling fast enough to put it into words.

But this finale? Baby…

This finale fully activated the June Osborne DNA in Agnes MacKenzie and changed the entire direction of this series moving forward.

And just so we’re crystal clear before we go any further…

I stand with Becka!

What Is “The Testaments” About?

“The Testaments” is a 10-episode Hulu Original series based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name and serves as the sequel to “The Handmaid’s Tale.”

Set years after the original series, “The Testaments” follows a new generation growing up under the oppressive rule of Gilead, centering on Agnes MacKenzie (Chase Infiniti), the daughter of June Osborne, and Daisy (Lucy Halliday), a young woman whose arrival changes everything.

As Agnes and Daisy navigate Aunt Lydia’s elite school for future wives, they slowly begin to question the brutal system surrounding them, setting the stage for rebellion.

Becka Sitting In That Cell Broke Me Down

Becka sitting in that prison cell singing “Rise, Shine, and Give God the Glory” like Miss Sophia from “The Color Purple” is going to haunt me for the rest of my days.

That scene perfectly captured the emotional cruelty of Gilead and the impossible situations these girls are forced to endure every single day.

Throughout the season, Becka quietly became one of the emotional anchors of “The Testaments.”

Watching her try to hold onto hope while trapped inside a system designed to crush young women into submission was devastating.

And when Becka’s mother took those charges to protect her daughter? Whew.

That was one of the purest displays of a mother’s love we’ve seen in this entire universe.

That woman literally laid down her life so Becka could have a chance at freedom.

Agnes Fully Stepped Into Her June Osborne Era

The biggest moment of the finale was watching Agnes finally step fully into her power.

The selflessness.
The courage.
The resourcefulness.

You could feel June Osborne all over that girl.

Agnes standing in front of Garth and asking him to move forward with marrying Becka in order to save her absolutely broke my heart because you could see how deeply that sacrifice hurt her.

But Garth ain’t no fool.

That man locked Edward Scissorhands right in that bedroom on the wedding night.

Now listen…
I don’t condone it.
But I understand it.

Meanwhile, Commander Weston had the audacity and unmitigated gall to act like Agnes was somehow “damaged” after surviving trauma.

The hypocrisy of Gilead continues to make my blood pressure rise every single episode.

Thankfully, the trash took itself out.

Daisy’s Evolution Was Powerful To Watch

Daisy’s character arc ended up becoming one of my favorite parts of “The Testaments.”

She entered Gilead focused on completing a mission, but once she actually saw how real things were up in there, something shifted inside her.

The moment Daisy told Garth to call June and get her out was the turning point.

By the finale, that baby was standing ten toes down and willing to put her own life on the line to save those girls.

That dock scene between Daisy and June Osborne gave me chills because it felt like watching two generations of fighters recognize each other in real time.

Same warrior spirit. Different generations.

And the SECOND June realized Daisy knew Agnes?

Baby… I was crying like Tammy Faye Bakker.

Every single time we get a June Osborne cameo, I get a rush of adrenaline.

The Ending Of “The Testaments” Explained

The finale makes it clear that the next phase of the story will focus on rebellion from within Gilead itself.

Agnes, Daisy, and Shunammite choosing to walk in the opposite direction of the other girls symbolized a complete rejection of the future Gilead planned for them.

For the first time, these young women are no longer simply surviving Gilead.

They are actively pushing back against it.

That Final Scene Was The Beginning Of A Revolution

One thing “The Testaments” continues to do brilliantly is show how Gilead weaponizes religion and scripture to manipulate people.

So when Agnes called out the hypocrisy and declared:

“Blessed are those who thirst for justice…”

That moment hit hard because these girls are finally beginning to see through the manipulation and reclaim their own voices.

And that final shot of Agnes, Daisy, and Shunammite locking fingers while walking in the opposite direction of the other girls?

That wasn’t just symbolism.

That was rebellion.

That was the beginning of a revolution.

And let me just say this right now…

Shunammite is a REAL one.

Your Thoughts On “The Testaments?

Knowing another season is already on the way made this finale even more satisfying because there’s still so much story left to tell.

Also, shout out to Margaret Atwood for pulling up with the cameo because I KNOW book readers lost their minds seeing her pop up.

What a glorious season of “The Testaments.”

Praise be!
