Frens, it’s almost time for another season of “The Challenge.” Paramount+ has released the official trailer and premiere date for Season 42, “The Challenge: Cutthroat.”
Premiering August 5, the new season transports 24 competitors to Thailand, where they’ll battle through grueling daily challenges, brutal eliminations, and political gameplay for a share of the $500,000 grand prize.
This time, though, winning won’t be about individual dominance.
How Does ‘The Challenge: Cutthroat’ Work?
Season 42 introduces a three-team format that forces every player to think beyond their own game.
Each team must work together to reach the finish line because no one wins unless the entire team finishes together.
Captains will have to make difficult decisions while balancing loyalty, leadership, and strategy. Meanwhile, players who refuse to work with their teammates could find themselves eliminated long before the Final.
If the trailer is any indication, alliances will be tested from day one.
Who Is Competing?
Season 42 brings together Challenge legends, recent fan favorites, and several newcomers looking to shake up the game.
Returning competitors include CT, Johnny Bananas, Cara Maria Sorbello, Tori Deal, Cory Wharton, Brad Fiorenza, Nelson Thomas, Michele Fitzgerald, Nurys Mateo, Cassidy Clark, Sydney Segal, Cedric Hodges, Chris Underwood, Will Gagnon, Adrienne Naylor, Justin Hinsley, Leo Dionicio, Deb Chubb, and Izzy Fairthorne.
Making their Challenge debut are Josh Goldstein, Keanu Soto, Lete, Anna Leigh Wilson, and Reilly Smedley.
One of the season’s most anticipated returns belongs to Nelson Thomas, who is back following the car accident that resulted in the amputation of his foot.
Nelson says he’s competing for his first Challenge championship while showing others facing similar life changes that they can continue pursuing their goals.
Longtime fans will also be watching to see whether Johnny Bananas can capture an eighth title, if CT can bounce back after an early exit, and whether Cara Maria can add a third championship to her already impressive résumé.
