Frens, the Smith household is back in the headlines. Jada Pinkett Smith is being sued for a cool $3 million by a former associate who claims things got physical, threatening, and downright dangerous back in 2021.
According to a new lawsuit filed by Bilaal Salaam, also known as Brother Bilaal, he isn’t just some random acquaintance.
He describes himself as a longtime friend of Will Smith, claiming nearly forty years of friendship and involvement in both personal and professional projects.
Salaam even points out that Will included photos of him in his best-selling memoir.
What Led To The Alleged Showdown
The complaint states that Salaam was attending a private birthday gathering for Will Smith on September 25, 2021, at the Regency Calabasas Commons.
That is when he alleges Jada pulled up on him in the lobby with about seven people in her entourage.
According to the filing, things escalated quickly.
Salaam says Jada became verbally aggressive and accused him of sharing her private business.
He claims she warned him that he would “end up missing or catch a bullet” if he continued talking.
He also alleges she demanded that he sign an NDA or else.
Salaam says the threats didn’t stop there.
He claims Jada’s team followed him to his car and continued issuing threats even as he tried to leave.
The Fallout After The Oscars Slap
Fast forward six months to March 2022.
The complaint claims a mutual friend asked Salaam to help with crisis management following the infamous Oscars incident where Will slapped Chris Rock.

Salaam says he refused to be involved in anything he felt was unethical or deceptive.
After that refusal, he alleges the retaliation began.
According to the lawsuit, Salaam says he faced threats, intimidation, and a full smear campaign from the Smith circle.
Things allegedly intensified when they discovered he was writing a whistleblower-style memoir.
He also points to a viral 2023 interview with Tasha K where he claimed he once walked in on Will Smith and actor Duane Martin engaged in a sex act.

The complaint argues that instead of taking legal action, Jada went on national interviews to discredit him.
Shortly after Salaam’s interview, Jada appeared on “The Breakfast Club” and laughed off the claims, calling them ridiculous and nonsense.
Why Salaam Says He’s Taking Legal Action Now
Salaam’s lawsuit accuses Jada of intentional infliction of emotional distress, referencing her public statements that he was trying to shake down her and Will.
He also cites her comments to TMZ where she claimed the couple planned to pursue legal action against him, which he says never happened.
He claims the alleged threats, intimidation, and retaliation have caused him severe emotional distress, financial loss, reputational harm, physical health issues, and the derailment of his entire life and career.
He is asking for $3 million in damages.
Representatives for Jada Pinkett Smith, Will Smith, and Duane Martin have reportedly been contacted for comment.
