Netflix just lit a match, and it looks like “Man On Fire” is about to burn up our watchlists.
The streamer dropped the first teaser trailer for the upcoming series “Man On Fire,” starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and I’m not going to lie… this one already has my attention.
The new drama premieres April 30, and if the teaser is any indication, we’re in for a gripping ride.
What To Know About “Man On Fire”
- Premiere Date: April 30
- Streaming On: Netflix
- Starring: Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Billie Boullet, Bobby Cannavale, Alice Braga, Scoot McNairy, and Paul Ben-Victor
- Based On: The novels Man On Fire and The Perfect Kill by A.J. Quinnell

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II Takes On John Creasy
In the series, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II stars as John Creasy, a once-elite Special Forces mercenary known for surviving some of the harshest situations imaginable.
But this time, Creasy isn’t just fighting enemies. He’s battling intense PTSD and the emotional weight of his past.
Determined to reclaim some sense of peace, he begins a path toward redemption.
However, life has other plans.
Before he can fully rebuild himself, Creasy finds himself pulled back into dangerous territory, forced to confront the very violence he’s trying to escape.
If that storyline sounds familiar, there’s a reason.

A Story Fans Already Love
A.J. Quinnell’s Man On Fire novels have already inspired two film adaptations, including the 2004 fan favorite starring Denzel Washington.
That film became iconic for its gritty tone, emotional depth, and unforgettable performance from Denzel.
Now Netflix is reimagining the story for television with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II stepping into the legendary role.
Behind the scenes, the series is led by showrunner Kyle Killen, with executive producers including Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and Arnon Milchan.
The first two episodes will be directed by Steven Caple Jr., who also serves as an executive producer.

The Teaser Already Has People Talking
The teaser doesn’t reveal too much just yet, but it definitely sets the tone.
Dark, intense, and emotional. Exactly what you would expect from a story centered around a man trying to outrun his past.
And honestly, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II feels like a powerful choice to take on this character.
Now I’m curious to see how this series expands the world of John Creasy beyond what we saw in the film.
