When I sat down for a virtual interview with comedian Karlous Miller, I expected a good laugh or two.
What I didn’t expect was for the conversation to start with a real-life plot twist.
Before we even got into the tour or comedy, Karlous made something crystal clear about the viral clip that’s been floating around online of a woman getting roasted during one of his shows.

“First of all, that lady is a stalker,” he told me.
If you only saw the clip online, it may have looked like a heckler getting escorted out and Karlous doing what comedians do best, roasting the situation before she left the room.
But according to Karlous, the situation runs deeper.
“There is an active warrant for her arrest,” he explained, revealing the woman has allegedly been harassing and following him for quite some time.
Needless to say, that wasn’t the direction I expected our interview to go in the first five minutes.

The “We Them Ones” Tour Lives Up To Its Name
Once we got past the unexpected stalker story, we got into what fans really want to know about: the “We Them Ones” Tour.
And honestly, the name couldn’t be more fitting.
The tour lineup reads like a comedy all-star roster with Mike Epps, Tony Roberts, TK Kirkland, DC Young Fly, Chico Bean, Mojo Brooks, and more bringing their own style of humor to the stage.
“We heavy with the talent,” Karlous said.
One thing he genuinely enjoys about being on tour is watching the other comedians perform and seeing how the show evolves from night to night.
“I actually love to go out and watch the show,” he told me. “Every night we just trying to make the show better and better.”
With that much talent sharing one stage, every show has its own rhythm and energy.
Why Karlous Isn’t Worried About Internet Critics
Of course, I had to ask Karlous about the current state of comedy, especially in a social media era where a 30 second clip can spark outrage before a comedian even leaves the stage.
His perspective? Don’t overthink it.
“What I said and what you heard is two different things,” he said.
Karlous believes comedians can’t create from a place of fear or worry about whether every single joke will land with every single person.

If they did, the jokes would stop coming. “I can’t live creatively like that,” he explained.
Comedy, after all, is subjective. Some people laugh. Some people get offended.
But that tension is part of what makes stand-up so powerful in the first place.
The Karlous Miller Origin Story
While doing my homework before the interview, I also learned something about Karlous Miller that genuinely surprised me.
Before becoming a comedy star, he was a firefighter.
Yes, a firefighter.
Karlous told me the experience shaped him in ways that still impact his life today.
“That job was extremely hard,” he shared. “But it made me more gritty and made me depend on myself more.”
Looking back, he says he wouldn’t change that chapter of his life at all.
“If I could do it all over again, I would do it exactly the same way.”
