Taraji P. Henson became overwhelmed with emotion after receiving a standing ovation on “The Talk.”
As the tears flowed, Taraji said, “I wasn’t expecting that.” But, she also said, “I’m receiving it.”
The beloved actress and star of The Color Purple has been on a transformative journey since taking the role in the film.
She’s reconnected with her voice – figuratively and literally (for the role of Shug Avery) and she’s been speaking out her entire press run about the pay disparity when it comes to women of color in Hollywood.
While on “The Talk,” Taraji P. Henson said:
I don’t speak just for black women; I speak for women of color…that’s why it’s important to have women of color, and diversity in companies.
Because if it were not for Oprah Winfrey producing this film, I don’t know if I would have been seen or heard.
That’s what producers do, she actually called me and was like, ‘If there’s anything I can do, you just let me know’…I was nervous, because it is Oprah, and…I told her, she fixed it, everything the next day.

Hollywood may be playing when it comes to Taraji P. Henson’s money, but Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is ready to add some zeroes to her bank account!
After he initially expressed his interest in working with the Oscar-nominated actress, he doubled down on it earlier this week when he took to Instagram writing:
Someone called me today thinking I was bullsh!ting about working with @tarajiphenson till I told them what I made STARZ pay @therealmaryjblige to be on GHOST, I ain’t out here fvcking around.
