Roy Jones Jr. is mourning the passing of his son, DeAndre Jones, who took his own life, according to a social media post from the boxing legend.

DeAndre, who would have turned 33 in July, was one of Jones’ three sons with his wife Natlyn.

He had a twin brother, DeShaun, and an older brother, Roy III.

As a teenager, DeAndre formed a rap trio called ‘3D’ with DeShaun and their cousin Dyllon Burnside.

In a statement released via Instagram, Roy Jones Jr. wrote:

Unfortunately, my son DeAndre took his life on Saturday.

I’m so thankful that God allowed me to come home Friday night to spend the last night of his life with me and the family.

I know a lot of people are going through tough times right now, but nothing is worth taking your own life.

God gives it and God should be the one to take it away.

Please respect our privacy while my family and I process this loss.

Thank you for the love and support.

See the statement from Roy below.

My sincerest condolences and prayers to Roy Jones Jr. and his family during this extremely difficult time.
