“Dance Moms” star Abby Lee Miller is suing Hampton Inn for negligence, emotional distress, discrimination, and false imprisonment.
According to the lawsuit, while staying at a Hampton Inn & Suites in Santa Monica, California in August 2020, a door fell on her and pinned her to her wheelchair, trapping her in the doorway for 6 to 12 minutes.
Abby has lymphoma, and she has been in a wheelchair since 2018.
Abby says her left back wheel got caught under the sliding bathroom door, as she was leaving the bathroom.
When she tried to free herself the 300-pound door fell down on her, pinning her to her wheelchair.
She screamed for help and after approximately 6 to 12 minutes later 2 hotel staffers came and lifted the door off of her.
An ambulance took her to the hospital, and she says she is still receiving physical therapy for the injuries she suffered to her head and shoulder.
Abby said she also endured other hardships from an extended stay from March to October 2020.
She stated the laundry room was not accessible to wheelchairs, her hallway was often blocked by housekeeping carts, and she was unable to open doors to the pool and gym areas.
Abby Lee Miller is seeking $8.5 million in compensation from Hampton Inn & Suites’ parent company Hilton.
