D.L. Hughley feels disappointed by the direction of “Club Shay Shay,” likening Shannon Sharpe‘s approach to Wendy Williams.
The legendary comedian, who just celebrated his 61st birthday, was a recent guest on “The Jason Lee Show” and he was very candid while discussing the NFL Hall of Famer’s wildly popular podcast.
D.L. admitted that it has always been messy between comedians “it just didn’t have the apparatus for expounding.”
“I do think that there is a voracious appetite for mess,” D.L. said.
That’s when Jason Lee mentioned “Club Shay Shay,” the podcast that has seemingly become the throne of “truth-telling” and shade for comedians after Katt Williams‘ explosive interview in January.

D.L. Hughley talked about how Black men initially embraced and supported the podcast they “saw what Skip Bayless did to Shannon Sharpe on ‘Undisputed.’”
We wanted him to know – we got you!
My problem with it is that the very men who appeared on that show when it wasn’t as huge as it was did it out of a sense of trying to help a man out.
And everything they said was curated and basically used against them in another interview.
That’s problematic for me.
D.L. went on to liken Shannon Sharpe to Wendy Williams.
I think that Wendy Williams didn’t get off air – she just got a weight set and a lisp.
I think that’s how messy it is.
