The judge presiding over the double murder trial of rapper YNW Melly has denied the defense’s motion for a mistrial.
Melly, whose real name is Jamell Demons, is accused of killing two of his fellow YNW rappers, Christopher “Juvy” Thomas Jr., and Anthony “Sakchaser” Williams on October 26, 2018.
If convicted, the 24-year-old Florida rapper faces the death penalty.
The defense filed a motion for a mistrial after the testimony of Felicia Holmes, a registered nurse whose daughter, Mariah Hamilton, was in a relationship with Melly.
Defense Attorney David Howard claims the jury was “tainted” after Assistant State Attorney Kristine Bradley had Holmes read out-of-court statements despite a court’s ruling against it.
The judge denied the motion for a mistrial, however, testimony could not proceed on Tuesday after a juror was hospitalized after suffering dehydration.
YNW Melly’s life is on the line and this is how he conducts himself in court…
