I attended an advance screening of The Furious, and within the first minute, I knew I was watching something special.
Hear me loud and clear: whatever hype you’ve heard about this movie, believe it.
I can say with my whole chest that The Furious is the best martial arts action film I’ve seen in the last decade.
Directed by Kenji Tanigaki, this explosive action thriller delivers jaw-dropping fight scenes, emotional stakes, and enough adrenaline to have you sitting on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.

What Is “The Furious” About?
The Furious follows Wang Wei (Xie Miao), a devoted father whose daughter is kidnapped by a criminal trafficking network.
When the corrupt police refuse to help, Wang decides to take matters into his own hands.
Determined to bring his daughter home, he embarks on a brutal mission that leaves destruction in his wake.
His only ally is Navin (Joe Taslim), a relentless journalist whose wife mysteriously disappeared while investigating the very same criminal organization.
Both men are searching for the people they love. When their paths collide, they form an unlikely partnership that elevates the film to another stratosphere.
Kenji Tanigaki Delivers Some Of The Best Action Of The Year
Kenji Tanigaki left no crumbs on the plate with this one.
Considering he’s an award-winning action choreographer and stunt performer, it’s no surprise that the martial arts sequences are phenomenal.
The action is fast, creative, brutal, and beautifully executed.
One minute into the film, I literally sat straight up in my chair and stayed that way until the credits rolled.
Unlike many modern action films that rely on quick cuts and shaky cameras, The Furious allows viewers to fully appreciate every punch, kick, throw, and takedown.
The fight choreography is so impressive that there were moments when our theater collectively gasped before erupting into applause.
Joe Taslim And Xie Miao Are A Dynamic Duo
While the action steals the spotlight, the emotional core of The Furious is what keeps the story grounded.
Joe Taslim and Xie Miao deliver strong performances as two men connected by loss, determination, and an unwavering commitment to finding their loved ones.
Their chemistry works exceptionally well, giving the film real emotional weight amid all the chaos and violence.
Because of that, every fight feels like it matters.
Go See “The Furious”
The Furious is 113 minutes of action-packed martial arts whoop-ass with a surprisingly solid story holding it all together.
The storyline works.
The action is relentless.
The violence is brutal.
And those freaking fight scenes are absolutely incredible.
My entire theater was locked in from beginning to end. We laughed, gasped, cursed at the screen, and applauded throughout the movie.
If somebody had stood up after the credits and said, “Let’s run it back,” I would’ve sat right back down and watched it again without hesitation.
Matter of fact, I’m already planning to see it again.
Kenji Tanigaki recently said that if audiences show up for The Furious, a sequel could happen.
Please do not ruin this for me.
Pull up and support this film when it arrives in theaters on June 12.
Trust me, this is one martial arts movie you do not want to miss.
