Instead of another traditional superhero movie, Clayface leans all the way into psychological horror, giving one of Gotham’s most unforgettable villains a terrifying origin story.

Tom Rhys Harries stars as Matt Hagen, a former Gotham street kid whose dream of becoming a Hollywood leading man finally comes true.
But his success is short-lived.
After a brutal encounter with a local crime boss leaves Matt horribly disfigured, he’s abandoned by the people around him with nowhere to turn.
Desperate for another chance, he undergoes an experimental treatment that miraculously restores his appearance.
Unfortunately, the cure comes with a horrifying price.
As Matt begins losing his grip on reality, he spirals into a violent quest for revenge, transforming into the iconic Batman villain fans know as Clayface.

A Strong Cast And Creative Team
Alongside Tom Rhys Harries, Clayface stars Naomi Ackie, David Dencik, Max Minghella, Eddie Marsan, Nancy Carroll, and Joshua James.
James Watkins directs the film from a screenplay by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini, based on a story by Flanagan and DC characters.
The film is produced by Matt Reeves, Lynn Harris, James Gunn, and Peter Safran.
From the haunting visuals to the unsettling tone, the trailer makes it clear that Clayface is aiming to be one of DC Studios’ boldest films yet.

When Does ‘Clayface’ Hit Theaters?
Clayface opens exclusively in North American theaters on October 23, 2026, with international releases beginning October 21.
Based on this first trailer, DC may have a genuine horror hit on its hands.
