Stefon Diggs is heading back to the Free Agent Streets after the New England Patriots decided to release the veteran wide receiver following just one season with the team.
According to reports, the Patriots informed Diggs that he will be officially released when the new NFL league year begins on March 11, sending the four-time Pro Bowler back into free agency.
While his stint in New England was brief, it clearly meant something to him.
Shortly after the news broke, Diggs shared a message on Instagram thanking the organization.
“THANK YOU for a yell of a year. We family forever ❤️ @patriots”
Diggs Proved He Still Has Plenty Left In The Tank
Despite returning from the ACL injury he suffered in 2024, Diggs showed he can still produce at a high level.
During the 2025 season, he quickly became the Patriots’ primary receiving option, finishing with 85 receptions for more than 1,000 yards.
For a 32-year-old wide receiver coming off a major injury, that kind of production speaks volumes about his durability and playmaking ability.
Still, the season wasn’t without its challenges.
His postseason numbers dipped against some of the league’s toughest defenses, and legal issues that surfaced in December created headlines off the field.
Now the Patriots will have to replace Diggs’ production through free agency, the NFL Draft, or the trade market.
