Lee Sun-kyun, the actor who starred in the Oscar-winning film, Parasite, died at the age of 48 on Wednesday in Seoul from an apparent suicide.
The actor was under investigation over accusations of illegal drug use amid a government crackdown.
Lee claimed he was tricked into taking drugs by a bar hostess who was trying to blackmail him.
He was questioned three times during the investigation, with one session running 19 hours over the weekend.
Police were alerted when Lee’s manager contacted them to file a missing person’s report after finding an apparent suicide note he left behind.
Sadly, Lee Sun-kyun was found dead in a car at a park in Seoul, Korea.
In addition to Parasite, Lee starred in the 2012 Korean thriller, Helpless, and All About My Wife (2014).
He would later star in Apple TV+’s first Korean-language original series, “Dr. Brain,” which premiered in 2021.
My sincerest condolences and prayers to all who knew and loved Lee Sun-kyun.
