‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Review

Back in middle school, there were two mighty warriors: Preston and Kenny.

Both were popular, both were athletic, and both were my friends.

They were cool with each other, too.

You know how it is—the supremely talented individuals form an alliance in the 7th and 8th grades, causing all of us lesser desired students to aspire to their greatness.

Anyway, both of them were in my physical education class.

This particular lesson was about wrestling.

The phys ed teacher made us students sit in a circle, a metaphorical ring if you will.

He took two bands out of his pocket, tossed one to Kenny, and the other to…Preston.

He told them to enter the ring—and wrestle!

Oh shyt!

This was the battle the entire school had secretly been wanting to happen, and I had a front-row seat.

Ladies and gentlemen, the clash was epic!

The winner?

All of us who were lucky enough to witness it.

The point I’m making is that we’ve always had a dream of seeing the ultimate team-up or combat between two of the most gifted.

Even the Marvel Cinematic Universe knows this, and the execs finally heard our cries.

In the new movie “Deadpool & Wolverine,” two comic titans come together to party and bullshyt.

Does this film make a cute couple, or is the breakup imminent? Let’s f**kin go!

My buddy, my buddy. Wherever I go, he goes. My buddy, my buddy…my buddy and meeeeee!

Deadpool & Wolverine” stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, and Matthew Macfadyen.

Shawn Levy directs this character unification which is, shall I say, an MCU buddy-cop film complete with all the bells and whistles you’d expect from past superhero movies.

A catastrophic event is about to occur that forces Deadpool to seek out assistance from one of the deadliest heroes to ever do it, Logan aka…The Wolverine.

Yeah, I hear you all, “But Wolverine is dead.”

Of course he is, but the MCU has that foolproof trick up its sleeve: the multiverse.

Yep, the good ol’ multiverse, keeping outrageousness alive since Master P was sayin’ “Uugghh.”

Now that this concept has been implemented, creators’ minds have carte blanche, and this film has to be one of the funniest cinematic experiences I’ve seen.

Reynolds as Deadpool turns up the comedy a couple thousand notches.

His timing, dirty innuendo, and breaking the fourth wall still remain undefeated.

However, does this work with Jackman, whose character Wolverine is a serious killing machine who’ll carve a man up just for snoring?

Hey bub…it works!

These two are perfect together!

As great as it is seeing Hugh Jackman back as Logan, it’s even better watching him and Wade Wilson trading verbal jabs.

Wolverine ain’t the one to be played with, but Deadpool continuously pushes his buttons until—FIGHT!!!

Their onscreen wars are jaw-dropping.

The battle choreography does not disappoint.

Who knew graphic violence could be so funny?

A new antagonist is introduced in the form of Cassandra Nova, played by Corrin.

Let’s just say she reminds us of something, not a jeep.

The best piece of this movie will undoubtedly be the cameos.

Cot-toe-mighty!

When I tell you they are surprising, hilarious, and wonderfully done, maaaaan listen!

Some you’ve probably heard about, others, well, just wait until you see them.

They all have necessary roles and screen time.

Okay, so the dialogue keeps you laughing, the action slaps, and the two stars’ chemistry is marked as safe from lameness.

What’s wrong? Uuhhh, the plot.

Yeah, it’s alright, but I was hoping for it to be more compelling.

The usage of the multiverse is going to feel overdone unless it’s cleverly thought out.

Also, although I liked the idea of the antagonist, she was severely underutilized.

I understand Nova’s objective, but the grandiose climax between them all, especially with her powers, was somewhat of a letdown.

However, I enjoyed this film.

It’s the “48 Hours” of the MCU (the movie, not the TV show).

Therefore, I’m co-signing “Deadpool & Wolverine” to the fullest!

Check it out in IMAX if you can to experience the full power.

The pairing we’ve hoped for has come to fruition.

Now, if I can just get my pairing to Nia Long
