Upstate, he is a devoted father trying to hold on to some sense of normalcy.
As his memory begins to deteriorate, those two worlds start colliding in dangerous and unpredictable ways.
Watching Angelo struggle to remember critical details, like where he parked his getaway car, adds a tense and almost darkly ironic layer to every hit.
Fox clearly knew what it was doing by launching “Memory of a Killer” with a two-episode premiere across two nights.
That move sealed the deal. By the end of the second episode, I was fully invested and genuinely anxious to see how Angelo’s story unfolds.
Patrick Dempsey is perfectly cast.
He convincingly toggles between warm, sweater-wearing dad and cold, all-black-suited hitman cruising the streets of New York.
The contrast works, and it works well. The performance feels intentional, controlled, and unsettling in the best way.
And then there’s Michael Imperioli.
Fans of “The Sopranos” already know he can handle morally complex, criminal characters with ease.
His presence in “Memory of a Killer” adds weight and credibility, and he delivers exactly what the role demands without missing a beat.
“Memory of a Killer” has officially earned a spot on my Monday night watch list.
The first two episodes are now streaming on Hulu, and for anyone who cannot watch live, new episodes drop the very next day after airing on Fox.
