Halle Berry has pulled out of transgender film role and she’s also issued an apology to the LGBT community.

The Oscar-winning actress gushed about a potential role where she would be portraying a trans man during an Instagram Live interview where she said:

I’m thinking of playing a character where the woman is a trans character, so she’s a woman that transitioned into a man. She’s a character in a project I love that I might be doing.

I want to experience that world, understand that world. I want to deep dive in that in the way I did ‘Bruised.’ Who this woman was is so interesting to me, and that will probably be my next project, and that will require me cutting all of my hair off.

That’s what I want to experience and understand and study and explore…it’s really important to me to tell stories, and that’s a woman, that’s a female story – it changes to a man, but I want to understand the why and how of that. I want to get into it.

Not only did Ms. Berry get dragged for her plans to take a role that should go to a trans actor, but she also got called out for misgendering the character she was planning to portray.

The official account for Netflix’s “Disclosure” documentary appealed to Halle to watch the documentary to get a better understanding of the damage she’s doing.

Halle Berry took to social media on Monday and issued an apology.

She also vowed to be an ally to promote better representation on-screen.
