Paramount+ is kicking off 2026 with a slow-burn psychological thriller that already has my attention. “Coldwater,” starring Andrew Lincoln, is set to premiere Friday, January 9, 2026, exclusively on Paramount+ for Premium subscribers, with new episodes dropping weekly through the finale on February 13.

In “Coldwater,” Lincoln stars as John, a stay-at-home dad whose life spirals after he fails to intervene during a violent playground incident in London.
Shaken and struggling with his sense of self, John uproots his family and relocates to the remote Scottish town of Coldwater in hopes of a fresh start.
But fresh starts are rarely that simple.
Soon after arriving, John is welcomed by his neighbor Tommy, played by Ewen Bremner.
Tommy is charming, confident, and deeply embedded in the local community.
On paper, he’s exactly the kind of neighbor you’d want when moving somewhere new.
In reality, he may be the reason you keep your doors locked at night.
As a series of increasingly unsettling events unfold, John begins to question who Tommy really is and whether Coldwater is hiding something far darker beneath its quiet exterior.
Cue the tension, the paranoia, and the kind of psychological unease that lingers long after the credits roll.
The six-episode series is created and written by David Ireland and directed by Lee Haven-Jones and Andrew Cumming.
The cast also includes Indira Varma and Eve Myles, rounding out a lineup that knows how to deliver emotional weight and quiet menace without doing too much.
