Netflix is moving forward with a sequel series to “A Different World,” bringing back beloved originals Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, Darryl M. Bell, and Cree Summer, who will reprise their iconic roles as Whitley Gilbert, Dwayne Wayne, Ron Johnson, and Freddie Brooks.
This time, the story centers on the next generation.
The series follows Deborah Wayne, the daughter of Whitley and Dwayne, played by Maleah Joi Moon.
She is a bright, free-spirited freshman stepping onto Hillman’s legendary campus while trying to build her own identity outside of her parents’ towering legacy.
Easy? Not quite. Entertaining? Absolutely.
While Deborah finds her footing, viewers will also reconnect with familiar faces from the original series as they navigate adulthood, legacy, love, and life beyond the classroom.
Jasmine Guy shared that returning to Whitley felt natural, saying the cast chemistry instantly picked up right where it left off.
