The internet has been buzzing after Ed Harris opened up about his experience filming Season 1.
Then I came across an interview with Cole Hauser, who also talked about the challenges of bringing the series to life.
After hearing both interviews, I couldn’t help but wonder what was really going on behind the scenes.
Ed Harris Says He Felt Underused
Ed Harris, who plays Everett, recently revealed that he seriously considered leaving the series during its first season.
According to Harris, he signed on believing Everett would be one of the show’s four main characters.
But as production moved along, he felt his role wasn’t as significant as he had expected.
Harris also shared another disappointment.
He filmed a scene where Everett performed a song in the bar, but the entire performance was cut from the episode.
He admitted that decision left him frustrated.
Cole Hauser Opens Up About ‘Dutton Ranch’ Production Challenges
Cole Hauser, who stars as Rip Wheeler, also acknowledged that Season 1 came with its share of challenges.
According to Cole, the cast had to adjust after Taylor Sheridan was no longer working directly with the production.
New writers and directors came in, and the team had to figure things out while filming.
Despite those challenges, Cole said everyone put their heads down, worked hard, and he’s proud of what the cast and crew accomplished.
Here’s Where I Stand On ‘Dutton Ranch’
Honestly, I had no idea any of this was happening behind the scenes.
Maybe I’m in the minority, but I never felt like Everett was underused.
In my opinion, Everett was the heart of “Dutton Ranch.”
He was the soul of the series and the moral compass.
Every time he appeared on screen, he either pushed the story forward or helped another character grow.
That’s why hearing Ed Harris say he felt frustrated genuinely surprised me.
It also makes me wonder if there were bigger plans for Everett that we never got to see.
As for what Cole Hauser shared, I’m sure there were challenges.
Imagine spending five seasons making “Yellowstone,” then stepping onto a brand-new series with new writers, new directors, and a mostly new cast.
That’s a huge adjustment for everyone involved.
All I’m saying is we’ve got a good thing going with “Dutton Ranch.”
I don’t want creative differences, frustrated cast members, shenanigans, or tomfoolery getting in the way of what has become one of my favorite new shows.
Season 1 was too good for all that.
