Jessica Chastain is back in the horror genre with Other Mommy, and the first trailer is guaranteed to make you think twice about who’s really standing in the room.
Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for the psychological horror film, which stars Chastain as Ursula, a mother whose terrifying double begins tormenting her 8-year-old daughter, Bela (Arabella Olivia Clark).
Based on the New York Times bestselling novel “Incidents Around the House,” Other Mommy opens exclusively in theaters on October 9.
What Is ‘Other Mommy’ About?
According to the official synopsis:
Bela, an 8-year-old girl living in a home with marital problems, confronts a sinister entity that comes out of her closet.
The presence, who she calls ‘Other Mommy,’ becomes increasingly threatening to her and her family.
The trailer offers plenty of chilling moments, but one of the most unsettling comes when Other Mommy quietly asks Bela, “Can I go inside your heart?”
As the tension builds, Bela can no longer tell whether she’s talking to her real mother or the sinister version that’s taken her place.
Cast And Crew
Other Mommy is directed by Rob Savage (Host, The Boogeyman) from a screenplay by Nathan Elston (Succession).
Joining Jessica Chastain and Arabella Olivia Clark are Jay Duplass, Dichen Lachman, Arian Moayed, and Karen Allen.
James Wan produces through Atomic Monster and Blumhouse.
Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Rob Savage, Josh Malerman, and Ryan Lewis serve as executive producers.
The trailer has also been playing exclusively before screenings of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, giving moviegoers an early look at one of this fall’s most talked-about horror films.
Other Mommy arrives in theaters on October 9.
