The nominees in all 24 categories for the 98th Academy Awards were revealed Thursday morning during a live presentation in Los Angeles, and it’s safe to say the Academy came in loud this year.
For this year’s awards, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed that 317 feature films were eligible, with 201 qualifying for Best Picture consideration.
Voting for nominations opened Jan. 12 and concluded Jan. 16, setting the stage for what is shaping up to be one of the most exciting Oscar seasons in recent memory.
But the biggest headline of the morning belongs to one film.

“Sinners” Just Made Oscar History
Ryan Coogler’s Sinners earned a jaw-dropping 16 nominations, making it the most-nominated film in Academy Awards history.
That officially pushes past the long-standing record of 14 nominations, previously tied by:
- Titanic (1997)
- La La Land (2016)
- All About Eve (1950)
And with nominations across major categories like Best Picture, Best Director, and acting, the film is not just present… it’s dominating.
