Tyler, The Creator popped out at the Atlanta advance screening of A24‘s “Marty Supreme” on Wednesday night and the audience absolutely went up.
I don’t blame them either because his feature film debut is a whole moment.
About “Marty Supreme”
Academy Award nominee Timothée Chalamet stars in “Marty Supreme,” a bold and kinetic portrait of a fast-talking New York dreamer who refuses to let life tell him who he is supposed to be.
The story unfolds in 1952, where Marty Mauser is stuck selling shoes in his uncle’s cramped shop on the Lower East Side.
His real passion is table tennis, which the world seems to respect about as much as tiddlywinks.
Marty is up against everything.
A pregnant homie/lover/friend, an overbearing mama, pockets emptier than a refrigerator on rent week, and a society that refuses to take his dreams seriously.
But nothing stops him. Not even the vampires of industry.
Once Marty decides he is going to become Marty Supreme, he is all in.
The cast is stacked too.
Gwyneth Paltrow, Kevin O’Leary, Abel Ferrara, Fran Drescher, Emory Cohen, Odessa A’zion, and the feature film debut of Tyler Okonma, also known as Tyler, The Creator.
Tyler, The Creator Steals The Show
Tyler, The Creator plays Wally, Marty’s ride or die buddy, and he carries the role with charm, grit, and heart.
Wally is a taxi driver doing everything he can to take care of his kids, but he is also the type of friend who literally pulls up when you hit the panic button.
Tyler, The Creator slides into this role so naturally that you almost forget it is his first time on the big screen.
And let me tell you, Atlanta showed him major love.
After the screening, he popped out for a fun and engaging chat with the audience.
He talked about joining the project, what it was like stepping into acting, and even shared his dream role is playing a villain!
The room was eating it up.
Timothée Chalamet Gives The Performance Of His Career
Now I have to back my chair up, sit my cup down, and collect myself before I get into Timothée Hal Chalamet.
I’ve always been a casual fan, but this performance grabbed me by the collar.
This man acted down.
He brought the humor, the pain, the desperation, the ambition, all of it, with so much precision that I found myself whispering, “Okay, Timmy, I see you.”
This performance has Oscar nomination written all over it in multiple fonts.
He transforms into Marty Mauser in a way that makes you forget you are watching Timothée Chalamet.
That’s special artistry. That’s dedication.
I gotta put some respeck on his name (in my best Birdman at The Breakfast Club voice).

My Review Of “Marty Supreme”
“Marty Supreme” is an adrenaline rush built on determination, chaos, action, and stellar performances.
It is beautifully written and dives deep into what it really means to chase a dream that looks outrageous to everyone but you.
It is funny, emotional, intense, and layered with heart.
I walked out of the theater feeling inspired and entertained.
“Marty Supreme”, directed by Josh Safdie, arrives in theaters on Christmas Day and trust me when I say it is the gift you are absolutely going to love this holiday season.
Let me know in the comments if you will be seated when the film drops.
