Timbaland took to social media on Monday to mourn the passing of his dear friend and collaborator, Melvin “Magoo” Barcliff.
Magoo’s passing was announced on Sunday, but his cause of death is unknown at this time.
In a post on his Instagram page, Timbo, whose real name is Timothy Mosley, shared performance videos of himself and Magoo.
The caption on one post read, “This one hits different 🥲🥲🥲 long live Melvin aka Magoo!!! 💔💔💔 Tim and Magoo forever 🕊️🕊️🕊️ rest easy my king ❤️❤️❤️”
See Timbaland’s tribute posts below.
Magoo met Timbaland in high school and would later become the rap duo, Timbaland & Magoo.
Their first collaboration, “Up Jumps da Boogie,” was the first project released from the Superfriends, a collective of incredibly talented singers, songwriters, and producers including Missy Elliott, Aaliyah, Ginuwine, Tweet, Nicole Wray, and Static Major of the group, Playa.
Ginuwine also took to social media to pay tribute to Magoo writing, “I’m truly efd up right now foreal life is crazy…”
I send my love, prayers, and deepest condolences to Timbaland, Ginuwine, Missy Elliott, and Magoo’s loved ones.
May he rest in peace.
