The “Haves and the Have Nots” star took to social media to announce she “got to marry her best friend,” Nicholas James, on Saturday (May 14).
Brides magazine featured the couple’s love story and Tika used a photo from their shoot to make her announcement.
She wrote on her official Instagram page:
I got to marry my best friend yesterday. My heart is so full. Friends and family are everything.
All involved made a girls dream come true.
Excited to have @brides feature our story. @nickjames138

Nick also took to social media to announce his nuptials writing:
My heart is so full. This experience has changed me. I can’t remember a time when I was this happy.
I’m married to the best woman, mother, and human I have ever met! My wife @tikasumpter is a spectacle!
I love our life, our family, and our circle! Xoxoxo
None of this would be happening without @tylerperry in our lives. We love you!

Tika and Nick exchanged vows in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
The ceremony and reception were held at Chileno Bay Resorts & Residences, Auberge Resorts Collection.
Tika shared:
We wanted everyone to have a good time and celebrate this long, amazing journey that we’ve had,.
I didn’t necessarily always want a destination wedding. It was just something that came to my mind.
One of our first trips out of the country was Anguilla, and Mexico definitely has that beautiful, island vibe, so we were like why not do it in Cabo?
The bride walked down the aisle in a strapless Galia Lahav wedding dress with a flowing veil.
The groom wore a pale blue custom Franc Milton suit.
Tika Sumpter and Nicholas James met on the set of “The Haves and the Have Nots,” fell in love, and they share a five-year-old daughter, Ella.
The Bride shared:
We’re excited to be together and continue the journey.
We both walked down the aisle with clear eyes, knowing that the wedding wasn’t just for the party.
It was really for us.
Now that they are officially husband and wife, Tika doesn’t expect a huge shift in their relationship.
I don’t know how much is going to change with the newlywed stamp.
It’s going to be fun to call Nick my husband and hear him call me his wife.
I think we just cemented what we already are, and all of our friends were witnesses to that. It’s a continuation of the journey, but I’m looking forward to doing what we’ve been doing, which is making sure that we have a solid foundation.
Making sure we’re strong. It’s not a sprint, this journey, it’s definitely not a sprint.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. James.
I wish them a lifetime of love and happiness.
