It’s with great shock and heartbreak that I report Stephen “tWitch” Boss has died of an apparent suicide.
He was 40.
On Tuesday, Stephen’s wife, Allison Holker, ran into an LAPD station frantic because he had left home without his car – that was something that he never does.
A short time later, police received a call about a shooting at a Los Angeles hotel.
Stephen “tWitch” Boss was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Allison released the following statement:
It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us.
Stephen lit up every room he stepped into.
He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.
To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt. I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory.
We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children.
Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you.
The incredible dancer, who got his big break in 2008 as a runner-up on “So You Think You Can Dance,” became a household name as the official DJ of the “Ellen Show.”
“tWitch” began DJing on the show in 2014 and by 2020 he had become an executive producer.
Ellen DeGeneres took to social media to share that she is “heartbroken.”

What’s even more heartbreaking is Stephen and Allison just celebrated their 9th wedding anniversary three days ago (December 11).
She took to social media writing:
It’s our 9th anniversary!! I couldn’t be more grateful to celebrate this perfect magical day!!!
Saying YES to @sir_twitch_alot has been one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life!!
I feel so blessed and loved!! I love you baby and I will never take you or OUR love for granted!
I LOVE YOU #happyanniversary #bosswedding2013

“tWitch” also shared an anniversary post.
Just two days ago, they were dancing in front of their Christmas tree. ?
“tWitch” and Allison also have three beautiful children.
My heart is shattered for the Boss family.
You never know what someone is going through.
Please keep Allison, their children, and all who knew and loved “tWitch” uplifted in prayer during this extremely difficult time.
