An emotional Shannon Sharpe said goodbye to Skip Bayless and the “Undisputed” staff today (June 13) on his last day after seven years.
Shannon said goodbye to everyone he could think of that helped him on his “Undisputed” journey, including the millions of fans who tuned in to watch him and Skip go at it.
In Uncle Shay Shay fashion, with class and dignity, he gave the most thanks to Skip Bayless for the opportunity despite some of their major bumps in the road.
And last, but not least, Skip Bayless!…
You fought for me, brother. I’m here because of you.
You allowed me to share the stage with you. You allowed me to share the platform.
I’m gonna cry in the car, but I’m not gonna cry now.
The opportunity that you gave me to become what I became, I’m forever indebted to you.
I’ll never forget what you did for me. You’ve helped me grow more than you’ll ever know.
…All I ask… Is when you lay your head on that pillow at night, you know I gave you everything I had…

Skip also thanked Shannon for his dedication and intense preparation for their debates, and he said Shannon made possible a very special time in his career.
In the end, I just want you to know that it was because of you, you made possible a very very special time in my career.
And this is a happy, sad moment for me because I look forward to your next great achievement, and it is coming.
