It’s with an extremely heavy heart and total shock that I report Andre Harrell has passed away.

The Uptown Records founder and the man behind legendary acts like Jodeci, Mary J. Blige, and Heavy D, was reportedly found dead in his Los Angeles apartment.

DJ D-Nice broke the news during his Club Quarantine set on Instagram on Friday night.

Roland Martin also confirmed the news via Twitter:

Andre Harrell was 59.

Ironically, the last thing Andre posted on Instagram was a meme that read, “Whoever need a ride to 2021…We leaving tomorrow morning.”

He added the caption, “Skip the virus and Let’s Pick it up again at the top of the year.”

Tomorrow isn’t promised.

My sincerest condolences to Andre’s family, friends, and all who loved him.
