(This post contains spoilers so please proceed with caution if you haven’t watched the show.) The winner of Netflix’s “Squid Game: The Challenge” reality competition series still hasn’t received a dime of the $4.56 million prize.

Inspired by the hit Netflix series, each player will be pushed to their limits through a series of games and forced to ask themselves just how far they’ll go to win, with opportunistic alliances, cutthroat strategies, and timely betrayals to follow.

Mai Whelan (Player 287), an immigration adjudicator, Navy veteran from Virginia, and a proud grandmother defeated Phill Cain, (Player 451) a scuba instructor from Hawaii after an intense game of Rock Paper Scissors to win the staggering $4.56 million prize.

After winning, Mai said, “Anything is possible.”

Even when you feel down and afraid, you have to pick yourself up, be a strong person and focus,” she added.

However, 10 months after filming and winning the competition, Mai Whelan hasn’t seen a dime of her $4.56 million prize.

I feel like Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire. Show me the money,” she told the New York Times.

The “Squid Game: The Challenge” finale aired on Wednesday, December 6, and Netflix held a live watch party in New York City.

Mai Whelan was in the building for the event and she got jazzy for the event by splurging on a new haircut, a Ralph Lauren dress, and Jimmy Choo shoes.

She admits she is now suffering from buyer’s remorse.

It would have been ideal for Netflix to present Mai with a check for her winnings at the finale event.

When she finally does receive her earnings, Mai Whelan shared that she plans to buy a retirement home and donate to issues that are important to her like the environment.

Netflix has announced casting is underway for “Squid Game: The Challenge” Season 2.

Update: According to her contract Mai should receive her winnings 30 days after the airing of the finale episode.

It’s unclear if she will receive her payment in a lump sum or a payment plan.
