Nelly found himself in hot water early Wednesday morning when he was arrested in Maryland Heights on suspicion of drug possession.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the “Country Grammar” and “Hot In Herre” hitmaker, whose real name is Cornell Haynes Jr., was taken into custody around 4:45 a.m.
The arrest followed a routine traffic stop during which officers discovered four ecstasy pills in Nelly’s vehicle.
Additionally, it was revealed that he was driving without insurance.
Note: Other reports state that Nelly had a lingering failure to appear warrant related to an old traffic charge, which may have involved driving uninsured.
Despite the charges, the 49-year-old rapper was released from jail shortly after his arrest.
