Matt Barnes has filed a restraining order against his fiancée Anansa Sims‘ ex-husband, David Patterson, Jr., after the two had an altercation at the Cowboys vs. 49ers game on Sunday (January 22).
The drama unfolded around 3:40 p.m. at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara when Matt and David encountered each other in a concourse at the venue.
In his application for a temporary civil restraining order, the retired NBA star claims David Patterson, Jr. “hunted me down and aggressively confronted me.”
Matt Barnes also accused Patterson of yelling profanities, calling him names, threatening him, and inciting the crowd “into a frenzy by yelling out my full name repeatedly.”
From there, Matt says things got physical and David “shoved me, and I was forced to push him off of me.”
Now, here’s where I got to side-eye Matt…
He claims he didn’t want the altercation to escalate, but he admits to trying to spit on David Patterson, Jr., which is considered a death wish for some.
“I did not want the altercation to physically escalate further, and off of frustration with him seeking me out and his unrelenting repeated harassment I spit in his direction in disgust.”
Now, Matt…
Police were called to the scene to investigate an allegation of battery and David Patterson, Jr. identified Matt Barnes as the suspect.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Matt claims David is jealous of his relationship with Anansa, and I’m pretty sure their engagement didn’t help the tense situation.
He has accused Patterson of terrorizing him for months and stated at one point in 2022, Matt says David threatened to shoot him with his gun.
Matt is asking that a court grant his request for a temporary civil restraining order to restrict David from coming within 100 yards of him.
The bright side is following the unfortunate altercation, Matt Barnes was still able to enjoy the game with his buddies.
You may recall that in November 2022, David Patterson, Jr.’s girlfriend Melisa Andino, filed a restraining order against Matt asking for protection for her, David, and the three children he shares with Anansa.
Matt has twin boys with his ex-wife Gloria Govan and he shares a son with Anansa.
Andino claims Matt has harassed them, and threatened them via text, and they suspect he is mistreating David’s children.
Melisa wrote, “If Matt Barnes will threaten me, a principal who has never said anything to him. would threaten a police officer. would choke and assault a woman…l understand why the children finally told their father and l that they were scared of him. l don’t believe children should be forced to live with a person who mistreats them because that is who their mother chooses to be with.”
A judge declined to grant the request for a restraining order.
As you can see the bad blood between Matt and David runs deeper than a side part on a bad closure wig.
