Marlon Wayans father Howell Wayans

Marlon Wayans took to social media on Saturday to pay tribute to his amazing father, Howell Marlons, who transitioned to his heavenly home on Friday, March 31.

In a post on his Instagram page, the comedian and actor wrote:

When i was a child I asked my Dad what did you want to be when grew up?
He simply said “I wanted to be a man”
I said “not a lawyer? A doctor? An actor?”
He said “just a man”
I said “but every boy becomes a man”
Dad said “Not true”
I asked “then what’s a man?”
My Dad said “A man takes care of himself and his responsibilities. His family is always FIRST”.
From that day on I wanted to be a MAN.

Thank you Pop for being an example of a Man to all your boys. I pray all young black boys can grow up to be a Man like you. Baby boy loves you.

And if ever I need you I know exactly where to find you… in my Bible that now sits by bed.

Rest well. Kiss Ma for me. Tell her her babies miss her. I got two angels.

I feel y’all lifting me already. If there’s a heaven I know you sitting in VIP sippin’ the best wine Jesus can make…

Marlon Wayans found out about Howell Wayans’ death in between his two stand-up comedy shows at Flappers Comedy Club in Burbank, California.

Marlon got the news after his first set but decided the show must go on and he performed his second set.

According to reports, it was an emotional night.

Marlon Wayans’ set already included him talking about the passing of his mother, Elvira Wayans, who died in July 2020.

He didn’t disclose the news of his father’s passing publicly until the end of the show…where he wept.

Fans who attended the show took to his Instagram page and raved about Marlon’s amazing performance.

One person wrote:

You did amazing tonight! Thank you for putting smiles on our faces.😊

I just wanted to give you a big hug at the end…I’m sorry for the recent loss of your dad and both your parents.

I can’t even imagine the pain. 🙏🏻💕

Another fan commented:

I laughed and cried…then laughed again…then cried…….then laughed again!

Really mostly laughing.

Truth and relatability are the funniest things and you weaved it all together seamlessly!👏👏👏

Sending my thoughts and prayers to Marlon Wayans and his family during this difficult time.
