Anthony Hamilton, one of the most soulful voices in music, announced his retirement from music.

The Grammy Award-winning artist tweeted, “The music game ain’t like it used to be. I don’t love it anymore. I am officially retiring. Thank you of supporting and loving me through the years.”

Anthony also posted a video via Instagram where he expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of support and encouraging words.

I appreciate your comments…everybody chiming in trying to encourage me but, I’ve been doing this thing for a long time.

I put out an album last year, Love is the New Black, and hardly anybody – y’all didn’t even know it was out.

So, I figured why keep…I could be doing something else. You know?

I’ve done good. So, I don’t know. But, I appreciate it.

So, if I’m not answering the phone or whatever…I’m good.

But, I appreciate y’all. I appreciate the love,

Keri Hilson jumped into his comment section to offer beautiful words of encouragement.

We love you Anthony! Job well done! Thank you for all the years of hard work & beautiful soulful heartfelt tunes.

Also, thank you for allowing me to be part of your legacy with “Never Let Go.”

I cherished working with you. Running to listen to the new album—that I absolutely didn’t realize was released!

Cheers to all your new endeavors! 🥂❤️👏🏾

Jagged Edge also commented, “Hang in there bro, we going through the same thing💙💙💙💙🙏🏽”

Listen, Anthony Hamilton is responsible for giving us timeless and classic soul tunes like “Coming from Where I’m From,” “Charlene,” “Best Of Me,” and “Can’t Let Go.”

He has collaborated with other amazing artists like Jill Scott, Nas, and Marsha Ambrosius

Anthony has 17 Grammy nominations under his belt and one Grammy on the shelf in his home.

Retirement? Nah, Bruh.

I guess it didn’t dawn on anyone – especially Keri Hilson and Jagged Edge that today is April Fool’s Day.

Let’s see if Anthony Hamilton is still retired on April 2 before we get alarmed.

Update: Just as I suspected, Anthony confirmed it was all an April Fool’s Joke.
