MMA fighter Julianna Peña must undergo cosmetic surgery after she lost a “big chunk” of her forehead in her UFC match against Amanda Nuñes on Saturday.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White told MMA Fighting, “Julianna’s got a big chunk missing from her forehead. She’s going to see a plastic surgeon right now.”

Julianna Peña’s future in MMA is uncertain after her loss, but Dana is encouraging her to take some time off.

“Take some time to heal, and then I don’t know,” White told MMA.

“She got pretty banged up tonight. It was like five or six knockdowns in the first two rounds. She was hurt. She needs to take some time off. Relax, spend some time with her daughter, and then we’ll go from there.”

Julianna took a brutal beating and lost her bantamweight title on Saturday (July 30) at the American Airlines Centre in Dallas in front of 19,442 fans.

At one point, the fight was just a bloody mess!

Congratulations to Amanda Nuñes on her win and I wish Julianna Peña a full and speedy recovery.

UPDATE: Julianna has taken to social media to shut down reports she lost a “big chunk” of her forehead and she’s actually talking about a trilogy.

Tougher than a two dollar steak ?

Thanks for the love everyone! Just a cat scratch that required a few stitches, no chunks missing, no surgery necessary. Love you all!
