Jamie Foxx spoke out for the very first time since he was hospitalized after suffering a “medical complication” on April 11 and he said he’s “been to hell and back.”
The 55-year-old Oscar-winning actor, comedian, and singer posted a 3+ minute video on his Instagram page where he expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of love and prayers.
Jamie Foxx did not go into detail about his medical complication.
But he talked about his harrowing experience and why he didn’t provide any updates to the public.
I went through something that I thought I would never ever go through.
And I know a lot of people were waiting and wanted to hear updates, but to be honest with you – I just didn’t want you to see me like that, man.
I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking jokes, doing a movie, a television show.
I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.
Jamie commended his family for “protecting him.”
To be honest with you, my sister, Deidra Dixon, my daughter Corinne Marie, saved my life.
To them, to God, to a lot of great medical people…I am able to leave you this video.
I cannot tell you how great it feels to have your family kick in in such a way – y’all know they kept it airtight and didn’t let nothing out.
They protected me.
And that’s what I hope everyone can have in moments like these.
The They Cloned Tyrone star also addressed rumors about his health.
You know, by being quiet, sometimes things get out of hand – people saying what I got.
Some people said I was blind, but as you can see the eyes are working.
Eyes are working just fine.
They said I was paralyzed – I’m not paralyzed.
But, I did go through – I went to hell and back!
Jamie Foxx revealed his road to recovery had some challenges.
My road to recovery had some potholes as well. But, I’m coming back. And I’m able to work. I want to thank the people who let me work.
Jamie became emotional as he expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of love that he received during his health crisis.
I just want to say that I love everybody and I love all of the love that I got.
And man, you know they talk about people crying in videos. You could do Take 2 – I’m not going to do a Take 2 – it is what it is.
If you see me out from now on and every once and a while I just burst into tears it’s because it’s been tough, man.
I was sick.
But, now I got my legs under me so you’re going to see me out.
But, like I said, I just want you to remember me for the jokes that I crack, the movies that I make – some of them good – some of them ain’t – I think I got a good one out, and the songs that I sing.
