Former Memphis police officer Demetrius Haley allegedly took photos of Tyre Nichols after he was brutalized during a traffic stop in January and sent the photos to at least six people.
According to documents sent by the Memphis Police Department to the Tennessee Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission, Haley took two photos of Tyre while he was propped up against a police car with handcuffs.
Demetrius Haley admitted he sent the photos to at least five different people including fellow officers and a female acquaintance.
An administrative investigation discovered he also sent the photos to a sixth person.
Tyre Nichols died three days after he was brutally beaten.
He was 29.
Demetrius Haley was one of six Memphis police officers fired in the aftermath of Tyre’s death.
Haley, Tadarrius Bean, Emmitt Martin III, Desmond Mills Jr., and Justin Smith — have been charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated kidnapping, and multiple counts of official misconduct and official oppression in connection with Tyre Nichols’ death.
A sixth officer, Preston Hemphill, was fired from the Memphis Police Department following an investigation.
EVERYONE who had a hand in the death of Tyre Nichols needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!
