The family of George Floyd is considering filing a lawsuit against Kanye West for false statements he made about George’s death on the “Drink Champs” podcast.

During his three-hour interview with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN, said George Floyd, who was murdered by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin in May 2020, actually died from fentanyl.

Kanye was feeling emboldened in his beliefs after attending the premiere of Candace Owens‘ new documentary, “The Greatest Lie Ever Sold: George Floyd and the Rise of BLM.”

Ye said:

I watched the George Floyd documentary that Candace Owens put out.

One of the things that his two roommates said was they want a tall guy like me, and the day that he died, he said a prayer for eight minutes.

They hit him with the fentanyl. If you look, the guy’s knee wasn’t even on his neck like that.

Civil rights attorney and community organizer Lee Merritt took to social media on Sunday to announce the Floyd family is considering taking legal action against Kanye West for his false claim.

Lee tweeted:

While one cannot defame the dead, the family of #GeorgeFloyd is considering suit for Kanye’s false statements about the manner of his death.

Claiming Floyd died from fentanyl not the brutality established criminally and civilly undermines & diminishes the Floyd family’s fight.

N.O.R.E. is now doing interviews of his own saying he regrets the interview and he apologizes to the Black community and the George Floyd family.

Funny how quickly a lawsuit can change your energy.
