Faith Evans Honored With Street Naming In Newark: ‘Faith Evans Way’ Unveiled On Her Childhood Block

Faith Evans has received a beautiful hometown honor.

The Grammy-winning R&B singer shared that Grumman Avenue, the Newark street where she grew up, has officially been dedicated as “Faith Evans Way.”

“My heart is overflowing with gratitude. To have Grumman Avenue, the street I grew up on officially dedicated as ‘Faith Evans Way’ is an honor beyond words,” Faith wrote on social media.

Faith Evans Celebrates A Hometown Honor

Faith thanked the City of Newark, Mayor Ras J. Baraka, members of the Newark Municipal Council, Ryder’s Room, her team, family, friends, vendors, media, and her devoted fans for helping make the day special.

She also highlighted one of the ceremony’s most meaningful moments: seeing her grandmother, Mae, recognized by the City of Newark alongside Bob Kennedy for their longtime commitment to the community.

“Sharing this special honor with them made the day even more memorable,” Faith shared.

Newark Will Always Be Home

Faith reflected on the city’s impact on her life and career, calling Newark the heart of her story.

“Newark has always been at the heart of my story, and no matter where life takes me, it will always be home,” she wrote.

She added that she is humbled by the recognition and inspired to continue giving back to the city that has supported her throughout her journey.
