Welp. I’m disappointed to report Daniel Kaluuya will not be returning for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
The Oscar-winning actor starred in Marvel Studios’ original 2018 Black Panther film as W’Kabi.
W’Kabi was the confidant and best friend of the late Chadwick Boseman’s Wakanda heir T’Challa, who spearheaded security for the Border Tribe.
Unfortunately, due to conflicts with scheduling on Jordan Peele’s horror film, Nope, Daniel decided to exit the highly anticipated Black Panther sequel.
The good news is Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong’o, Letitia Wright, Martin Freeman, Angela Bassett, and Winston Duke are returning for the sequel.
Then, there is the addition of Dominique Thorne, who starred in Judas and the Black Messiah with Daniel.
Production wrapped on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever back in March after facing multiple delays due to injuries and COVID-19 protocols.
You may recall production was halted in August 2021 after Letitia Wright suffered an on-set injury while performing a stunt.
Then, there was the issue of Letitia’s vaccination status causing an issue of her returning to the United States to continue filming.
On November 8, 2021, the CDC implemented rules that required all non-immigrant, non-citizen air travelers to the U.S. to be fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination status before boarding a plane.
This situation prompted fans of Black Panther to call on Marvel Studios to simply recast her with an actress who was vaccinated.
Thankfully, everything worked out and Letitia Wright returned to set and production resumed in January 2022.
The film is slated to open in theaters on November 11.
Daniel Kaluuya, who starred in Jordan Peele’s critically acclaimed film, Get Out, stars alongside Keke Palmer and Steven Yeun in Nope, which opens in theaters on July 22.
Will you miss Daniel in the new Black Panther: Wakanda Forever film?
