Cam’ron Takes J. Cole To Court Over “Ready ’24”

Rappers are trading mic drops for legal drops lately, and Cam’ron is the latest to hit the courtroom, this time suing J. Cole over their song “Ready ’24.”

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Cam’ron says he laid down a verse for the track under one condition: that Cole would either collaborate with him on a future project or pull up to his popular podcast, “It Is What It Is.

But apparently, that handshake deal never made it past the group chat.

The “Ready ’24” Fallout

Cam claims the track was recorded back in 2022, and from mid-2023 through early 2024, he tried to keep the ball rolling.

But despite his efforts, J. Cole allegedly stayed too “busy” to make an appearance on the show or move forward with another collab.

Now, Cam says he hasn’t been properly compensated and wants a judge to recognize him as a co-author of “Ready ’24.”

He’s also asking for a full breakdown of the money the track has made so he can secure his fair share, which he estimates to be over $500,000.

Hip-Hop Meets The Courtroom

This lawsuit highlights an ongoing trend in the industry: artists handling business disputes in court rather than in verses.

It’s another reminder that even in hip-hop, paperwork is power.

While “Ready ’24” was supposed to celebrate unity between two lyrical heavyweights, it’s now the center of a legal battle that could get even messier.

Neither Cam’ron nor J. Cole has publicly commented yet, but Frens, you know this one’s bound to spark conversations about creative credit, business loyalty, and handshake deals gone wrong.

What do you think, should J. Cole have honored his word, or was this just a case of business getting personal?
