It’s with great concern and prayer that I report Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin is in critical condition at a local hospital after collapsing on the field.
The medical emergency occurred during the Monday night match-up between the Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Following a play in the first quarter Damar, 24, collapsed on the field and CPR was administered for several minutes.
As medical personnel worked on Damar, his team formed a prayer circle around him on the field.
Damar Hamlin received oxygen and was placed in an ambulance and rushed to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
The NFL released the following statement:
Hamlin received immediate medical attention on the field by team and independent medical staff and local paramedics.
He was then transported to a local hospital where he is in critical condition.
Our thoughts are with Damar and the Buffalo Bills.
We will provide more information as it becomes available.
The NFL has been in constant communication with the NFL Players Association which is in agreement with postponing the game.
The NFL then announced a full postponement at about 10 p.m. ET.
The league did not say when the game would be made up or resumed.
