Brian McKnight is trending in the streets of Twitter and it has absolutely nothing to do with his voice or his music.
The 53-year-old crooner is being heavily criticized over a 4-month-old birthday post he made for his (step)daughter Julie.
In the post, Brian McKnight and Julie, who he affectionately refers to as “Jules”, are posing alongside the BMW she received for her birthday.
The caption reads:
Today we celebrate you Jules on your birthday your mom and I couldn’t be prouder of you and I couldn’t ask for a better daughter than you!!!
Happy birthday to the best daughter ever! Love u a zillion.

A Twitter user brought attention to the post and called out the “Back At One” singer writing, “Brian McKnight is a nasty soul. How awful is this caption? You literally already have a daughter. A black one.”
Brian McKnight tied the knot with Leilani Mendoza in 2017 and he became a dad to her son, Jack, and her daughter, Julia.
In January, the couple welcomed a baby boy, Brian Kainoa Makoa McKnight.
The “Anytime” singer is also a dad to Brian Jr. and Niko from his marriage to Julie McKnight (1990-2003) and daughter Briana McKnight from a previous relationship.
Brian McKnight is often criticized for seemingly putting his children from his previous relationships on the back burner or completely out of mind now that he has a “new family.”
In 2019, Brian McKnight Jr. took to social and publicly talked about being abandoned by his father.
I can’t imagine abandoning my children man.
It’s hard not to imagine the psyche of a man who can truly just turn his back on his actual sons, on his actual blood and creations.
It’s mind-boggling to me. I don’t think there is any section that merits the way my father has chosen to treat my brother, my sisters, and his grandchildren, one of being his first born’s, first born son, who also bares our name.
It’s insane to me.
