16-year-old Paris McKenzie has opened Paris Beauty Supplyz in Brooklyn, New York, making her the youngest black owner of a beauty supply store.
Paris credits her mother, Senica Thompson, who is also a business owner, for inspiring her to own her own business.
See a photo of Paris’ mother below and her special Mother’s Day message from Paris:
Paris told CBS 2:
I do have a lot of business experience. I’ve been helping my mom run her business since I was very, very young.
So I know how to handle finances and how to market products in the store. I had enough money saved to invest in this.
Paris hopes to inspire more young black business owners as she tries to find the work-life balance of running her own business.
I don’t really have anymore free time, but when I do, I try to go out with my friends. Walking in here every morning, it makes me feel awesome!
Paris went viral on social media after announcing the opening of her beauty supply store.

This is an awesome story of great parenting, great work-ethic, and entrepreneurship.
I’m sure Paris McKenzie is an inspiration for young aspiring business owners nationwide.
Keep doing your thing young Sista!
Next time you’re in Brooklyn and you need to spruce up your ‘do stop by Beauty Supplyz.
