Joe Goldberg will make one more stalkerish run in the streets of Netflix. The streamer has renewed “You” for a fifth and final season.
The news of the renewal comes two weeks after Part 2 of Season 4 debuted on Netflix.
“You” stars Penn Badgley as “Joe Goldberg” and is based on Caroline Kepnes’ best-selling novel of the same name, “What would you do for love?”
When a brilliant bookstore manager crosses paths with an aspiring writer, his answer becomes clear: anything.
Using the internet and social media as his tools to gather the most intimate of details and get close to her, a charming and awkward crush quickly becomes an obsession as he quietly and strategically removes every obstacle – and person – in his way.
Peter Friedlander, Netflix’s VP of Scripted Series, said:
‘You’ became an instant sensation on Netflix with a resounding cultural impact that has grown season over season.
We’re excited — and a bit terrified — to see how it all ends for Joe Goldberg, but one thing is for sure: You are in for an unforgettable ending.
After serving as showrunner for the first four seasons of the series, Sera Gamble is stepping down to focus on other projects.
But, she will remain involved with the show an executive producer.
Making the show alongside our writers, producers, directors, cast and crew has been an honor and ridiculously fun. And I feel lucky to have worked with an artist as gifted and thoughtful as Penn Badgley. I’m proud of what we’ve all accomplished and feel privileged to pass the torch. I’m excited to watch and support the ‘You’ team as they bring Joe Goldberg’s journey to its delightfully twisted conclusion.
Listen, “You” Season 4 had viewers in a chokehold and was trending on Twitter for days.
Will you be tuned in to see how Joe Goldberg’s story ends on the fifth and final season of “You?”
