A Las Vegas judge has ruled against Tremaine Neverson, widely known as Trey Songz, ordering him to pay over $11.2 million in a lawsuit tied to a 2021 incident at The Cosmopolitan hotel.
Neverson, famed for hits like “Bottoms Up” and “Say Aah,” and his security team are accused of attacking Tyrelle Dunn, a Maryland Capitol police officer, after Dunn attempted to rescue his wife, who allegedly was being held against her will.
According to court documents, Dunn’s wife was taken to room 6014 by Mr. Steal Yo Girl’s security under the pretense of meeting the singer.
The lawsuit claims she was assaulted, had her phone confiscated, and screamed for help.
When Dunn approached the room, he says he was violently attacked by Trey Songz and his team.
Dunn sustained severe injuries, including fractures to both eye sockets, and missed over a month of work.
“The attack has had a profound and everyday impact on my life,” he wrote in an affidavit, noting that he still suffers from physical and emotional trauma.
Emergency calls from hotel staff revealed chaotic scenes, with security hesitant to intervene, fearing the occupants of the room were armed.
Despite the harrowing allegations, Las Vegas police declined to press charges in March 2022, citing insufficient evidence.
However, the civil court delivered a significant financial blow, awarding Dunn damages for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and punitive measures.
Trey Songz failed to respond to the lawsuit, leading to a default judgment.
This isn’t Trey Songz’s first brush with the law. He has faced numerous allegations of assault and sexual misconduct over the years:
- June 2023: A woman filed a lawsuit alleging Trey exposed her at an event in 2013, an incident captured on video.
- April 2023: A lawsuit accused him of sexually assaulting a woman in 2016.
- December 2021: Former basketball player Dylan Gonzalez publicly accused Trey Songz of rape, describing her ordeal as “unbearable PTSD.”
The singer has also faced lawsuits involving physical altercations, including a 2018 incident where he allegedly assaulted two men, including a Detroit police officer.
As legal challenges continue to mount, Neverson remains a prominent figure in entertainment.
He is scheduled to perform at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on April 25, 2025, as part of The Millennium Tour.
However, his growing history of allegations could overshadow his career, leaving fans and critics questioning what’s really good with Trey Songz.
