Jay Ellis is officially a married man.
The “Insecure” and Top Gun: Maverick actor married Nina Senicar in Tuscany, Italy on July 9, 2022.
Jay met Nina met at a Los Angeles bar in 2015 and five years later, he proposed to her at sunset on Dreamland Beach in Bali in January 2019.
On Nina’s 34th birthday (November 8, 2019), she and Jay Ellis welcomed their first child together, a bouncing baby girl named Nora Grace Ellis.
The couple was excited to begin wedding planning for July 9, 2019.
Nina told Vogue, “We always knew we wanted to get married in Italy because going there was the first trip we ever took together.”
After five months of planning and sending out invitations, the pandemic hit and changed everything.
“At the time, Italy was one of the hardest hit areas in the world, on a strict lockdown and closed to tourists,” Jay added.
“Like everyone else in the world, we weren’t sure how widespread it would be or how long any of it would last, so we had to cancel everything.”
The couple pushed the date back to July 9, 2020, but God had other plans.
“As the world slowly started to open up in 2021, we had a family loss that caused us to be away from home for about eight or nine months which resulted in our having to change our plans again,” Nina says. “And we finally landed on July 9, 2022.”
Jay Ellis took to social media to announce his nuptials by posting a photo of himself and his bride with their wedding date, “July 9th, 2022… Per sempre,” which means “forever.”
He turned off the comments on the post to protect his peace.
The bride and groom wore custom Dolce and Gabbana on their wedding day.
The ceremony took place at Villa Mangiacane in Tuscany.
Nina was escorted down the aisle by her father as a quartet played Frank Ocean’s “Thinkin Bout You.”
The Serbian actress reflected on her wedding day saying, “We just really wanted everybody to have a good time and get to know each other. And most importantly, dance. We come from two completely different sides of the world, different cultures, and backgrounds, and it was magical to see how all of that got mixed together in such a beautiful and spontaneous way with the people we love the most.”
