The Hate U Give is now free to watch on all digital platforms.
The film, released in 2018, is based on the best-selling novel and tells the story of Starr Carter, who lives in two worlds: the poor, black neighborhood where she resides and the mostly white prep school she attends.
This uneasy balance is shattered when she witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood friend by a policeman. Facing pressures from all sides, Starr must find her voice and stand up for what’s right.
Director George Tillman Jr. took to social media on Monday evening to announce the film would be free to watch.
I’m Excited that #TheHateUGive is avail Tuesday at no charge on digital platforms.
I hope the film provides a bit of understanding. Our story is a reminder to never be afraid to raise our voice in the name of justice. We must stand up for what we believe. The time for change is now!
