This is not a drill! Paramount+ has given a 10-episode order for the revival of “The Game.”
Wendy Raquel Robinson will reprise her role as “LaTasha Mack” alongside her on-screen son, Hosea Chanchez, who starred as “Malik Wright” for the show’s nine-season run.
Other legacy cast members are expected to return.
Series creator Mara Brock Akil, who signed an overall deal with Paramount+ last year, gushed about the return of the show.
Fifteen years ago I created The Game and am so proud of the success we had, and that I was able to create characters and stories that resonated with so many people.
I couldn’t be happier about leaving my beloved characters like Tasha Mack and Malik Wright in the hands of Devon, Wendy and Hosea, who I know will build off of the rich foundation the show has.
Wendy took to social media absolutely ecstatic about the return of the show.
She wrote:
Ok pinch me! It’s Fa’Real y’all! Pretty freaking amazing to see the awesomeness of God! 3 different networks 3 reincarnations, 3 re-imaginings of our ‘Little Engine That Could’???? I’m so thank-full for this journey that began almost 18 years ago! When I was at my lowest, God saw fit and blessed me with a cast, crew, and content creator that would change my life FOREVER! The new take on “The Game” will relocate from San Diego to Las Vegas and feature new and returning characters as the series offers a modern-day examination of Black culture through the prism of pro football.
In a press release, Paramount+ said the revival will “tackle racism, sexism, classism and more as they fight for fame, fortune, respect, and love — all while trying to maintain their souls as they each play the game.”
Are you here for the return of “The Game?”
